The MyWhite Dining Table, developed for Cristiano Gatto Design, is conceived as a sculptural element destined to become the focal point of high-end nautical interiors. More than a simple table, it is an architectural presence capable of defining space through balance, proportion, and material intensity, establishing a continuous dialogue between form, light, and surface.
At the core of the project lies a precise principle: the complete elimination of discontinuity. Surfaces flow seamlessly, volumes are composed in a fluid manner, and every joint has been designed to disappear entirely, both visually and to the touch. This design approach results in an extreme formal purity, where construction complexity is fully absorbed into the elegance of the whole.
The tabletop is crafted in Macassar ebony, selected for its chromatic depth and the expressive strength of its natural grain, making each piece unique. The mirror-like high-gloss finish is the result of a highly specialized process: an eight-coat lacquering cycle applied over the course of two weeks, with intermediate stages of sanding and hand polishing. This treatment produces an extremely deep and reflective surface, capable of enhancing the material and interacting with light in a dynamic and sophisticated way.
The perimeter of the top is defined by a polished AISI 316 steel profile, introducing a sharp and rigorous line that creates an elegant contrast with the warmth of the wood while precisely outlining the geometry of the piece. This metal element is not merely a frame, but an integral part of the design language envisioned by the architect.
The base develops through a composition of volumes clad in ebony and leather, articulated into a structure that is solid yet visually light. The lower base in polished AISI 316 stainless steel, specifically designed for marine environments, ensures resistance, durability, and stability, while maintaining impeccable aesthetic coherence.
A distinctive feature of the project is the seamless junction between different materials, metal, wood, and leather, achieved through extremely precise engineering. The transitions between surfaces are continuous and calibrated to the millimeter, with no perceptible interruptions. Each material connection is carefully studied to be harmonious, creating a refined balance between rigidity and softness, between reflection and light absorption.
At the same time, the development of invisible joints represented one of the most complex technical challenges. All connection systems were custom-designed to ensure precise assembly and secure floor anchoring, completely eliminating any visible elements. This required perfect synergy between advanced technical design and extremely precise craftsmanship.
The MyWhite Dining Table is the result of a process in which contemporary design, material research, and manufacturing culture merge into a single object. A project conceived for the most exclusive nautical environments, where every detail is not only functional but also contributes to creating an aesthetic and sensory experience of absolute excellence.
