A hand-drawn gesture takes shape in wood
The Edelweiss Dining Table project originates from a collaboration with Nembo Design Studio, which provided the initial vision through a detailed render, complete with dimensions and formal guidelines. The idea was to create a large walnut table, four meters in length, characterized by a frame with a profile hand-drawn by the architect. A fluid and soft gesture, faithfully translated into the final craftsmanship, that defines the identity of the project.
The execution required a careful selection of materials, as sourcing walnut boards of such length and thickness represents a significant technical challenge. The boards were then processed to ensure aesthetic continuity and structural integrity, in full respect of the design vision. The chosen finish—a stained walnut—gives the surface chromatic depth and a strong, distinctive character.
A distinctive feature of the project is its construction method: the perimeter frame is made of solid wood, while the central section is composed of thin walnut veneers derived from the same material and applied onto a multilayer structure. This technical solution, inspired by high-end parquet systems, preserves the aesthetic of solid wood while reducing its natural movement across large surfaces.
The steel legs complete the table with a bold yet refined gesture: fully calendered by hand, they are shaped directly from sheet metal rather than prefabricated elements. The pewter bronze finish enhances the metal’s material quality and harmonizes with the tone of the wood. Edelweiss Dining Table is the result of a collaborative process, made possible by a network of highly skilled partners and an approach grounded in trust, expertise, and professional integrity, key elements in transforming each project into a unique piece.
